Election 2012

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S Post Election 2012 Thoughts

By ADMIN

Taking a look back at this year’s election now that the final result is in and has been heard around the world, to the delight of many, I find myself contemplating what it means now that we all know Obama will serve a second term.  On one hand minorities everywhere feel great pride and joy Obama is still in office and quite a lot of the majority if what the vote tally shows on all the major news networks is true, because we know that whites in America are the majority even with the growing minority population.  No black President would have been elected at all without white people voting for him.  A friend of mine once told me be careful of any leader be he white, black or any other nationality but especially if he is a minority and chosen by white people.

I asked my friend why he would say that.  His response was well think back to slave times.  He continued to say “When the master of a plantation wasn’t around he still had appointed and selected from within his slave population those who would control and tell the other slaves what to do and in effect keep them under control.  They were the master’s puppets.  These appointed “leaders”  and/or “overseers”of the slaves ” (most were white) were not for their own people they were given privileges that the other slaves did not receive in order to distinguish them and give them incentives to feel like they were better than the other slaves they were put in charge of.”

I thought about The Field Negro v The House Negro remarks I had heard in a Malcolm X speech.  It made sense to me even when I looked at the situation that unfolded in Rwanda and Burundi in Africa which was later turned into a movie called Hotel Rwanda.  Genocide was a result of this favoritism when the Belgian Colonizers pulled out of Rwanda.  The Hutu’s began to plot the destruction of their fellow people the Tutsi’s because of the favoritism shown to the Tutsi.  The old divide and conquer technique.

Now getting back to my point.  I never for one moment believed Romney a Mormon would win this election.  He in my opinion was merely a good choice to offer the public in opposition to Obama in order for the election to be believable.  The debates were scripted and chosen to play this out further for the people.  We have to remember that these people are actors.  Highly skilled and polished and they act out their scripts right before our eyes, where we as the audience suspend common sense in most cases and just go with the story being acted out in front of us.  This part of the show is essential.  However, I do believe that there are many people who are so convinced that everything they see is authentic and couldn’t possibly be a script I’d certain I’d be almost immediately labeled a conspiracy nut just for pointing this out.

Whether I am considered that or not is not my concern.  What is my concern however, is provoking critical thinking or at the very least a dialogue on the subject.   After the first debate the media and many who watched it called the debate Obama’s weakest moment.  He was called “passive” and “off his game”.  President Obama had to tread the line carefully in my opinion so as not t0 come across as “The Angry Black Man” as many whites like to readily label any black man who is assertive and speaks with authority on a subject.  This is especially true when it comes to the subject of racism.  Meanwhile, Romney gets the free pass to interrupt the President over talk him and that is seen as aggressive and assertive and leadership by his supporters.  In the second presidential debate the president clearly won and in the final debate President Obama thoroughly whooped Mitt Romney’s ass like a red-headed step child, so bad at one point Romney actually began parroting the answers the President was giving to direct questions and then immediately switched the subject from its chosen topic the international policy (his weak suite) to domestic issues where he and his team believed his strength and advantage were verses President Obama.

The President won the popular vote and the electoral college handily.  Where in the electoral tally President Obama had received 303 votes to 203 for Romney.  270 Electoral votes are all that is needed to win and win he did.  So now that the election show is over are we to believe that things will go better because of his reelection?  Are we as citizens of U.S.A truly expecting change in Congress in terms of getting things done right for the people?  Should we place our faith in one man?  Does the president in all honesty and seriousness have any control over the country’s economy?  Was the choice presented to us between two Candidates a true choice?

Congress is supposed to reflect the views and opinions of the masses who “choose” or “elect” them as their representatives in government to address and fight for the people.  Clearly when we look at the election 2012 show that was just concluded the people seemingly have spoken loud and clear.  So what should the people expect from President Obama’s second term?  I pray it’s far better than the two previous Bush terms.  However, if one believes that Obama is merely a figure head and mouth piece for the elite’s agenda to tell the citizens what is going to be done during his term in office what should we expect in the future?

HURRICANE SANDY: The Aftermath

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S Post Hurricane SANDY Report

Written by T.D Moody

For many of us living in the Tri-State area waking up in the wake of Hurricane Sandy seems surreal.  I liken it to the shock and disbelief I felt on 9/11/ 01.  Each passing day the news broadcasts for those of us who still have power thank God, are a constant reminder that what seems surreal in the aftermath is in fact very real.  As a resident of New York City I have a greater appreciation now more than even during Katrina because this catastrophe hit close to home.  Generally speaking, I think most people only comprehend tragedies in the shoes of others when they themselves have had a similar or the same experience.

You hear all the time about the tornadoes in the southern U.S. and the tropical storms and Hurricanes that hit the Caribbean.  You see the destruction left in their wake but to have it happen so close to home and to see such loss and loss of life it truly is a wake up call.  We are very small in the grand scheme of the universe and to see what nature can do to us is frightening to say the least.  I thanked God things for myself and my family weren’t nearly as bad as others have experienced.  I can’t imagine how I, let alone my family would be handling things if everything we owned was lost overnight.  I don’t want to know what it feels like to only possess what you’re wearing on your back and no place to go.

Many friends of mine are directly affected by this storm living in Lower Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania some have no power and aren’t able to go to work.  Some said even if they could get to their offices there is no power where they work.  The economic impact of this storm I only began to consider when I realized for the 3rd day in a row I myself had been unable to go to work due to the fact that there is no power below 34th Street where my work place is located and secondly there being no subway service to get there.

I sat listening to the news reports all day long waiting to hear about the restoration of power by ConEd to Lower Manhattan.  I heard the news I needed to hear after some devastating images of the wake of Sandy and those directly impacted was shown.  A ConEd rep stated that power to lower Manhattan would be restored by Saturday  11/3/12.  I like many other residents and working class citizens will be grateful to know that very soon we can start to resume a normal day of work and begin to pick ourselves up and move forward after this storm.  For many others it’s picking up the pieces of a life in immediate ruins and having to rebuild entire lives from scratch.  I pray they are able to recover sooner than later.

And yet while I have this sense of optimism I shudder to think about the possibility that we could get another storm like Sandy hitting us in the same fashion shortly after we’ve just experienced Sandy.  Even more disturbing is the realization that we human beings are at the mercy of nature.  Could it be nature perhaps is responding to mankind for it’s destruction and pillaging worldwide?  I think it possible and plausible.  Whether it’s probable I don’t know.  What I do know is that I find it funny that many who claim not to believe in God will at times such as now claim Sandy as an ‘”act of God”.  I can see lots of insurance claims potentially being rejected with that clause as the get out of jail free card for the insurance company.   “I’m sorry for your loss sir but under your policy we don’t cover acts of God.  Have a good day.”

The Double Standard of Violence in Society

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S Double Standard of Violence in Society

Written by Akan Bosemann

Recently in the news there is a viral video circulating on the net of an older black male bus operator in Ohio who was suspended for punching a black female passenger who had not paid the fare to ride the bus.

First off let the facts be made clear.  Violence is a part of human society no matter how much people act or think they are immune or above it, or whether people think that in the same situation having the benefit of seeing the video that they would have reacted differently.  Secondly, for the misinformed it was not a teenage girl who was struck it was a 25 year old woman with no class or respect or money for that matter who I find interestingly enough had placed all of the passengers including herself in danger when she engaged the bus operator while the bus was in motion.

Women want equality under the law right?  Equal treatment right?  Well clearly that’s not the case when a woman can assault a man first and then feign innocence and the fact that he’s a man and she’s a woman as the sole reason he should not defend himself after.  That alone says you know better than to attack a man if that is your position.  It also disregards the fact that he’s a human being and like all human beings we have a threshold for patience and anger.   You are not always able to control your emotions in every situation and I’m sure some will say he could have pulled over and called the police and waited but it’s easy to say that in hindsight.  What if she had a weapon on her?  Should he wait to be assaulted with a weapon before he defends himself?  While I don’t condone men striking  women I can understand why it happened in this instance.

Imagine that he had crashed the bus and killed some if not all the passengers or even other motorists on the road?  Who would say damn that was a female?   Her greatest error in her being disrespectful was thinking that putting her hands on him would have no consequences simply because she was female.

There are several clips of the video where more of the initial argument is shown where the bus operator is telling her “Spit on me then bitch!”  In my opinion that sounds like the retaliatory words of someone who has been threatened that they will be spit upon.  Whether the woman actually spit on him is unclear to me but from what I saw in that video she got upset not when she was insulting him and cussing him out and not even when he responded letting her know that he would rather have his daughter or grand daughter whoop her ass.  That alone should tell you the bus operator didn’t even want to engage her because she was female but she insisted.

She only really got beside herself with true stupidity when he said it looked as if her face had already been sliced up and the passengers laughed at his comment and not hers.  As soon as she heard the laughter she then went and put both her hands on the bus driver while the bus was still in motion.  That act alone warranted her getting her ass beat and not just because she now crossed the line physically, but because she could have caused a serious accident.  The bus was still in motion!!!!

The double standard of society is that some people seem to think that gender gives one member of society the right to assault the member of the opposite sex and then retreat to the law for protection from retaliation.  Here is a basic tenet that most people with common sense and reasoning skills should accept and know.  Whether the passenger was male or female, the moment one entertains and engages in an assault on someone else there are no rules of engagement.  The Bus company rules or conduct policy may come to bare but no one thinks about that when they are under attack period.

In the streets there are no rules.  Act at your own peril.  Now, if you are of the mindset that a man should never hit a woman in any circumstance even in self defense you will be the victim many times over for that flawed logic.  Here’s a small example to make this point clearer.  If you ever see two dogs on a leash being walked and they suddenly come to barking and biting at one another the smaller dog usually is the dog that is at risk of serious injury if allowed to engage the larger dog of the two.  And in most cases if both dogs are off the leash and engage in a fight which one usually ends up the worse for wear?  Knowing this most small dogs don’t try to attack a larger dog without realizing hey I can get hurt.  The smaller dog though is always brave when the larger dog is being restrained and unable to retaliate.

The woman on the bus who got punched was running her mouth a lot like most annoying little dogs do.  Huffing and puffing and knowing full well that she is A) Female and B) most likely not as strong and definitely not in the same weight class as the older bus operator.  Was there any critical thinking taking place on her part?  The answer in short is no.  She disregarded the size disparity between them mistake number 1.  She disregarded that she was in the wrong for not having the money to partake in the benefits of riding the bus mistake number 2.  She stepped up to and put her hands on a man mistake number 3.  If you are prepared to step up and take on a man as a man there are some men who will accommodate that act.  To make things worse she still wanted more after being tossed off the bus.  No one wonders why she didn’t press charges against the bus driver because it’s already a lost cause when you assaulted a civil service employee first.  That unfortunate  miscalculation got her Mollywopped and way-laid.  What if the bus driver was female and the passenger was a black male would anyone say damn she uppercut him that’s wrong that’s a man?  No they’d be like wow he got just what he deserved.

And as sure as the sun will shine people will think twice now about assaulting bus operators be it male or female but especially in the case of it being a female aggressor and instigator.

2012 Fall Food Travel Log Big Nick’s Edition!!! Part III

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S 2012 Fall Food Travel Log Big Nick’s Edition!!! Part III

In the previous two posts I addressed Big Nick’s amazing Sumo Burger topped with American cheese.  Now in the finale I tackle the more expensive Kobe Beef Cheeseburger.

This burger was around half the size of the Sumo which is still decent especially when you consider the kind of beef it is.  I was pleasantly surprised when I lifted off its bun to discover the burger had been topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms, several waffle fries, a leaf of lettuce, and a slice of tomato in addition to a healthy coating of American cheese.  I removed the lettuce and tomato due to the fact that they had wilted and gone bad as I chose to eat this burger today having eaten the Sumo yesterday.   Anyway, I had the genius idea to add instead of ketchup a goodly amount of hickory flavored BBQ sauce.

What’s all that under the hood you ask? The Shiznit sir!!!

I bit into this burger expecting to have another amazing experience as I had had with the Sumo.  The first thing I noticed was that this burger was a lot softer texture wise than my Angus.  I may have jumped the gun with my initial thoughts of what Kobe beef would taste like but what a pleasant finding.  Kobe beef rocks just not as hard as my 100% Angus.  As I stated previously, I knew from the first bite that  100% Angus Steer is my favorite beef of all beef period!!!!  That being said, this Kobe beef cheeseburger itself was a masterpiece and definitely held it’s own.  The meat while soft was still cooked well and remained juicy and non greasy.  Once again it was a pleasure and a bit of a struggle to consume this example of exquisite burgerdom… slowly.  The union of the caramelized onions and mushrooms slapped down with savory BBQ sauce helped to highlight the nuanced flavor of the soft Kobe meat.  Uh yes sir I will be having another.

Hood back on and first bite down.

Waffle fries needed ketchup

Now let me comment on those waffle fries.  While the fries were perfectly cooked that golden brown, some one at Big Nick’s needs to ease off their heavy handed pouring of salt on these bad boys.  After my first waffle fry I was like “Oh lohooord!! They are trying to give me a heart attack and a stroke with these high blood pressure raising pieces of golden brown goodness”.  After eating several of these I had no choice but to get a tall glass of water to dilute all the salt I was consuming.  The taste would have been perfect with say several hand shakes less salt.  I pushed on to the burger to reunite my stomach with the Kobe beef.

Get in my Belly!!!!

I almost forgot to mention that gorgeous bun that pampered beef is sitting on.  The taste reminded me of a sweet french bread. You know real pastry breads and not just the stereotypical hamburger bun made with stripped bleached white flour and a pound of sugar.   I’ll have to ask the exact name of it.  One thing I have to say though is while the prices were in my opinion high for burgers and fries,  the quality of the meat and the way they were prepared and presented definitely made them worth their price of admission.  Seriously imagine what that tasted like having sweet caramelized onions with mushrooms, waffle fries, and good ole American cheese smothered in BBQ sauce all while being married to Kobe beef on that bun.  It was very delicious!!!

Oh Kobe championship round…think you’ll last? I don’t LOL

I think what I loved the most about my burgers is the fact that they were charcoal broiled which just added to the glorious flavor of the meat in my opinion and reduced the amount of fat in them as the burgers didn’t sit in their own fat as they cooked.

I told you sir…I told you!!

And like that…it’s gone!!

Ladies and gentlemen if you like great tasting char broiled burgers that deliver taste and an experience for their price.  You must try Big Nick’s Burger Joint & Pizza Joint.  And in particular for those with larger than the average appetites try the Sumo.  Kobe beef is my second favorite beef of all beef so far.  I’m gonna have to attempt to try at least half the menu of burgers they offer at some point and actually sit down there to eat.   Stay tuned for upcoming Food Travel adventures.  Till next time this has been another 2012 Fall Food Travel Log by THEJNSREPORT.

2012 Fall Food Travel Log Part II

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S 2012 Fall Food Travel Log Big Nick’s Edition!!! Part II

In the previous post I showed the two burgers I selected for my consumptive pleasure from the “World Famous” Big Nick’s Burger Joint and Pizza Joint.

The final cost for my carnivore treats came out to be $29.09 for two above average sized burgers and one side order of waffle fries.  Were they worth that price of admission?  Here’s the review.  My first bite into the enormous Sumo Cheeseburger instantly awoke a memory of some of the best hamburgers I’d ever had as a child from a burger place called Burger Barn or something to that effect.  As soon as I savored the sumptuousness of this heavenly burger my tongue immediately said 100% Angus Steer Beef is my favorite beef of all beef period!!!  Even without adding any salt or pepper or seasoning of any kind the flavor and taste of this burger is outstanding in my opinion.

The first bite…Hallelujiah!!!!!

There was a char on the burger that married unbelievably well with the taste and texture of my well done Angus.  Wowza!!!  The melted American cheese had the customary silky texture and slightly salty taste I expected as it cascaded down the length of the Angus beef and onto my tongue.  I chewed slow enough to savor the simple complexity of that beef and cheese with ketchup only making my joy from eating this burger grow with every passing bite, chew, and swallow.

Google Maps View LOL

Bite after delicious mouth pleasing bite I went at the Sumo Cheeseburger.

Sumo Cheeseburger…you’re going down son!!!

After a few moments of chewing and savoring the taste of that good sumo I continued the journey the Sumo was taking me on.  I decided to take a peak under the bun and below is what I found.

The naked underside. Looks like it could use some ketchup. Oh yess uhh!!!

While the sight of the well cooked monster burger is visually appealing I knew that ketchup would only enhance the experience and so…

On goes a healthy slathering of that good ketchup. Ya understand?

Reassembling the master piece I proceeded to continue on with the procession of 100%Angus Steer, American cheese, ketchup and bun into my stomach.  Songs of contentment began to fill my belly.

You should know that you get bit when you taste so damn good. Mmm!!

The following ensued as at a certain point without realizing it I was over taken with the desire to eat a bit quicker in order to finish off the Sumo before the full signals from the stomach would begin registering in my brain.

A little more than half way to victory

Getting fuller and fuller I won’t give up though

Closer and closer

Yes from the top there’s still quite a bit to go

I decided to add some white corn tortilla chips to my burger to further enhance my experience as I felt a little jolt of texture contrast would help push me on to finish off this great cheese burger.

I think I need something crunchy

I think I can

I think I can

Little Buddy says you gonna get ate!!!

One more bite one more bite one more bite!! LoL

And like that…it’s gone.

In sum the Sumo burger so far is the best tasting burger I’ve had in a long time bringing with it nostalgic memories of great burger eating days gone by.  Next time I’m going to jump even more out of the box and try their stuffed Gorgonzola burger.  I’ll have to ask if they ever consider making a burger even bigger than the Sumo or better yet a stuffed Sumo burger ala the “Jucy Lucy Burger”.  Stay tuned for the conclusion of this review in Part III when I finish off the Kobe Beef Cheeseburger.  Tell next time this has been another 2012 Fall Food Travel Log of THEJNSREPORT Big Nick’s Edition!!!

2012 Fall Food Travel Log

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S Fall Food Travel Log 2012 Big Nick’s Edition!! Part I

After a busy past week and even busier weekend I decided today was the day to make a pit stop at the “World Famous” Big Nick’s Burger Joint & Pizza Joint located on the upper west side of Manhattan at 2175 Broadway and 77th St.  As I walked by the place two female employees of Big Nick’s beckoned me to come in.  I hesitated at first by shear natural impulse.  You know the one you get when a sudden voice in your head says this a moment do you or don’t you?  Seeing as how I hadn’t eaten all day the stomach cried out for food and so I gave in to impulse.

I decided against sitting down to eat as I normally would due to a tight schedule for the day and so I got my order to go.  First off here’s an idea of the depth of their to go menu.  This paper booklet of a menu may appear small on it’s face but has actually over 27 pages of menu items to choose from.  I’ll say that again over 27 pages of different foods they serve and the best part of it all being they operate 24 hrs a day.  After sitting down at the counter and being presented courteously with a huge house menu I decided immediately to go for two of Big Nicks most expensive burgers.

The first burger I selected was the vaunted Sumo Burger.  I wanted mine with cheese and I knew it would be extra I just hadn’t anticipated it costing $3.25 just to add a couple slices of American cheese, but yes that was the price paid for that little luxury.  The Sumo Burger is, according to Big Nick’s 100% Angus Steer Beef with one of these patties weighing in at over 1 pound.  I had mine without lettuce and tomato and just opted for American cheese, ketchup, and mayo with my burger cooked very well done as I generally don’t like my meat rare or having any semblance of pink in it.

My Goodness!!!! It’s almost as big as the aluminum container it’s housed in

Here’s what their to go menu looks like below.

The second burger I selected was Big Nick’s Kobe Beef Burger.  I have never had Kobe beef before but as I understand it, Kobe beef are Japanese raised cows that are grass fed and pampered with all manner of treatments including massage and music all throughout their raising before they are slaughtered.  It’s supposedly one of the best if not the best beef in the world.  Once again I decided to add cheese to my burger and have this one cooked well done instead of very well done.  I chose this order to come with tater tots but seeing as they were conspicuously out of tots I opted for their waffle fries which in opinion is more than a suitable substitute for tater tots though I do love some good tots MMmm MMmm!!!

On a plate or in a box it’s all goot!!

Check out The Sumo and the Kobe Beef below

Kobe Beef Burger Big Nick’s style

Oh the power of meat and cheese!!!

Now to give you some perspective in the size difference between these two burgers the picture below give a side by side.

Looks like one is orbiting the other

The total for my order of two burgers and waffle fries came out to a whopping $29.09.   Coming up the review.  Were these burgers worth their price of admission?  To be continued…

Our World and Drugs

Welcome to THEJNSREPORTS Our World and Drugs

Written by T.D. Moody

Let me start off by saying nature is truly an amazing gift from God and my learning about it and appreciation for it continues to grow each day.  Now the first time I ever partook of the sweet healing smoke from my first joint of pot I knew it was good and put here for mankind by God.

The sensations and emotional ride I had were life changing to say the least.  Marijuana allowed me to relieve stress in a holistic way I never imagined possible.  Ahh beautiful, lovely, relaxing, amazing, and glorious Marijuana.  If only the whole world smoked this plant or imbibed it from its various delivery methods we would have world peace.

There is no doubt in my mind that the war on this precious plant is coming from those who hate peace and all of the various benefits this wonderful plant is capable of yielding.  I’ll bet most citizens of the U.S.A don’t know that at one time in our history marijuana aka Cannabis was a legal commodity that enabled the states to build economic prosperity through the use of hemp fiber, hemp seeds and hemp oil.

Hemp fiber was used for construction, making hemp based cements, and paper far more durable and economical to produce than traditional paper products that waste and kill so many of the earths trees each year.

Cannabis aka Marihuana aka Mary Jane, and all it’s other known aliases has been vilified, demonized and made illegal in favor of pharmaceutical grade and inferior synthetic drugs because they can’t patent Marijuana and own it forcing everyone to buy it from them.

If people knew that they could grow and produce medicine and products from this miracle plant for themselves, then there would be no profit for large pharmaceutical companies and tobacco companies alike once this plant is shown to have so many beneficial uses and applications that would help rather than hinder and enslave the customers of some of the world’s largest corporations.

Profit margins would probably decline rapidly as most people I have no doubt if given the choice between smoking tobacco versus smoking or vaporizing Marijuana would choose Marijuana over that cancer causing traditional tobacco cigarette.  Many symptoms and conditions/illnesses that are treated with “legal drugs” those made by pharmaceutical giants like Merck and Pfizer could be eliminated entirely.

It’s human being’s greed and desire to control and own everything that has our world so F’d up that we allow big drug companies and government to intrude into our lives, forbid us from using what actually is shown medically to have tremendous benefits both treatment wise and industrially.

And as if those weren’t reason enough it has a zero carbon foot print as it is naturally occurring plant; yet it has been demonized, and labeled as some sort of a scourge and the cliche “gateway” to harder drugs BS when in fact it is the exact opposite.  Whether others disagree with me or not makes no difference.

I recommend that each person regardless of their opinions on Marijuana and its benefits or legalization should become informed and research it for themselves in order to understand what is coming.   I believe it will be legalized at some point nationally and then world wide.  I only hope it isn’t under the singular control of government or some large corporate cartel.  At any rate below are some favorite images of varieties of this wonder plant.

Blue Cheese? Where’s the burger and wings?

The blessed White Widow

Hey Luda?!!! I found your blueberry Yum Yum

What is your name my dear?

Good God the glory of it!!!
