Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S Post Hurricane SANDY Report
Written by T.D Moody
For many of us living in the Tri-State area waking up in the wake of Hurricane Sandy seems surreal. I liken it to the shock and disbelief I felt on 9/11/ 01. Each passing day the news broadcasts for those of us who still have power thank God, are a constant reminder that what seems surreal in the aftermath is in fact very real. As a resident of New York City I have a greater appreciation now more than even during Katrina because this catastrophe hit close to home. Generally speaking, I think most people only comprehend tragedies in the shoes of others when they themselves have had a similar or the same experience.
You hear all the time about the tornadoes in the southern U.S. and the tropical storms and Hurricanes that hit the Caribbean. You see the destruction left in their wake but to have it happen so close to home and to see such loss and loss of life it truly is a wake up call. We are very small in the grand scheme of the universe and to see what nature can do to us is frightening to say the least. I thanked God things for myself and my family weren’t nearly as bad as others have experienced. I can’t imagine how I, let alone my family would be handling things if everything we owned was lost overnight. I don’t want to know what it feels like to only possess what you’re wearing on your back and no place to go.
Many friends of mine are directly affected by this storm living in Lower Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania some have no power and aren’t able to go to work. Some said even if they could get to their offices there is no power where they work. The economic impact of this storm I only began to consider when I realized for the 3rd day in a row I myself had been unable to go to work due to the fact that there is no power below 34th Street where my work place is located and secondly there being no subway service to get there.
I sat listening to the news reports all day long waiting to hear about the restoration of power by ConEd to Lower Manhattan. I heard the news I needed to hear after some devastating images of the wake of Sandy and those directly impacted was shown. A ConEd rep stated that power to lower Manhattan would be restored by Saturday 11/3/12. I like many other residents and working class citizens will be grateful to know that very soon we can start to resume a normal day of work and begin to pick ourselves up and move forward after this storm. For many others it’s picking up the pieces of a life in immediate ruins and having to rebuild entire lives from scratch. I pray they are able to recover sooner than later.
And yet while I have this sense of optimism I shudder to think about the possibility that we could get another storm like Sandy hitting us in the same fashion shortly after we’ve just experienced Sandy. Even more disturbing is the realization that we human beings are at the mercy of nature. Could it be nature perhaps is responding to mankind for it’s destruction and pillaging worldwide? I think it possible and plausible. Whether it’s probable I don’t know. What I do know is that I find it funny that many who claim not to believe in God will at times such as now claim Sandy as an ‘”act of God”. I can see lots of insurance claims potentially being rejected with that clause as the get out of jail free card for the insurance company. “I’m sorry for your loss sir but under your policy we don’t cover acts of God. Have a good day.”
Welcome to THEJNSREPORTS Our World and Drugs
Written by T.D. Moody
Let me start off by saying nature is truly an amazing gift from God and my learning about it and appreciation for it continues to grow each day. Now the first time I ever partook of the sweet healing smoke from my first joint of pot I knew it was good and put here for mankind by God.
The sensations and emotional ride I had were life changing to say the least. Marijuana allowed me to relieve stress in a holistic way I never imagined possible. Ahh beautiful, lovely, relaxing, amazing, and glorious Marijuana. If only the whole world smoked this plant or imbibed it from its various delivery methods we would have world peace.
There is no doubt in my mind that the war on this precious plant is coming from those who hate peace and all of the various benefits this wonderful plant is capable of yielding. I’ll bet most citizens of the U.S.A don’t know that at one time in our history marijuana aka Cannabis was a legal commodity that enabled the states to build economic prosperity through the use of hemp fiber, hemp seeds and hemp oil.
Hemp fiber was used for construction, making hemp based cements, and paper far more durable and economical to produce than traditional paper products that waste and kill so many of the earths trees each year.
Cannabis aka Marihuana aka Mary Jane, and all it’s other known aliases has been vilified, demonized and made illegal in favor of pharmaceutical grade and inferior synthetic drugs because they can’t patent Marijuana and own it forcing everyone to buy it from them.
If people knew that they could grow and produce medicine and products from this miracle plant for themselves, then there would be no profit for large pharmaceutical companies and tobacco companies alike once this plant is shown to have so many beneficial uses and applications that would help rather than hinder and enslave the customers of some of the world’s largest corporations.
Profit margins would probably decline rapidly as most people I have no doubt if given the choice between smoking tobacco versus smoking or vaporizing Marijuana would choose Marijuana over that cancer causing traditional tobacco cigarette. Many symptoms and conditions/illnesses that are treated with “legal drugs” those made by pharmaceutical giants like Merck and Pfizer could be eliminated entirely.
It’s human being’s greed and desire to control and own everything that has our world so F’d up that we allow big drug companies and government to intrude into our lives, forbid us from using what actually is shown medically to have tremendous benefits both treatment wise and industrially.
And as if those weren’t reason enough it has a zero carbon foot print as it is naturally occurring plant; yet it has been demonized, and labeled as some sort of a scourge and the cliche “gateway” to harder drugs BS when in fact it is the exact opposite. Whether others disagree with me or not makes no difference.
I recommend that each person regardless of their opinions on Marijuana and its benefits or legalization should become informed and research it for themselves in order to understand what is coming. I believe it will be legalized at some point nationally and then world wide. I only hope it isn’t under the singular control of government or some large corporate cartel. At any rate below are some favorite images of varieties of this wonder plant.
Good God the glory of it!!!
Welcome to the THEJNSREPORT’S Floral Gallery Summer 2012
As many of us New Yorker’s endured the heat of the summer and seeing as how summer is rapidly coming to an end I found myself thinking about really the abundance of variety in the world and specifically the plethora of different plants there are once again showing the glory of God’s creations.
The following are pictures of some of the flowers and plants I took over the summer.
A wonderful and dedicated gardener allowed me the pleasure and privilege to shoot photos of some of her finest work.
When I saw the flowers below I was immediately drawn to them and had to snap several pics. That shade of red radiated energy.
I am and was truly amazed at all these different flowers and plants this amazing gardener cultivated and maintained.

These beauties reminded of large chameleon like spiders with their thin leaves looking a lot like spider legs.
And last but not least in the finale a plant so awesome looking I dubbed it The Empress.
Feel free to leave comments as to which flowers in this collection are your favorites. Until next time this has been THEJNSREPORT.
