Baby Strollers & Public Transportation

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S: Baby Strollers & Public Transportation

Recently, while riding the subway with a friend we found ourselves cloistered like sardines in a can in a crowded subway car where the interior of the car was blocked in two directions by women with SUV like baby strollers in the aisle reserved for standing passengers while they hogged two seats each with their bags.

Why is it in today’s world especially in NYC are there so many women having non-collapsable huge strollers for their kids?  Firstly, I’m not against women and their kids traveling in public transportation, however common courtesy should not just be a matter of everyone else acquiescing to the choices some parents decide to make when transporting their kids.

Non collapsing baby strollers are a huge public nuisance.  They are constantly in the way, take up too much space and impede any bit of wiggle room left when the bus or train car is full of passengers.  When I was growing up as a kid and yes I have plenty of siblings, we didn’t have the monster sized SUV strollers of today.  Common sense prevailed.  In today’s world it seems like things are backwards.

So here’s a poll question

X MEN: Days of Future Past Film Review

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S: X MEN: Days of Futures Past Film Review 2014

This Memorial Day weekend’s box office numbers say that X MEN: Days of Future Past is easily The Real “Godzilla” of the Box Office pulling in 261 million dollars on opening day.  As a fan of  the X MEN ever since seeing the comics and cartoons as a kid, there was an expectation of greatness to be had seeing the movie adaptations of these comic icons.

Greatness seemed within reach with each new installment during the Saga from X 2 a classic favorite and arguably the best in the franchise until First Class came along.  Now it appears that X Men: Days of Future Past has clearly seated itself  on the throne as the best X Men Film of all time.  I say this not just because of it’s global Revenue numbers but because of the story line and execution of the film being tightly written, well directed, & acted along with top notch special effects.

Cameo appearances of Halle Berry as Storm were adequate.  Nothing against Halle as an actress but she was miscast as Storm and with the unfortunate line of wigs employed during her appearances, we were left with the impression it was in vain trying to give a look to someone they knew wasn’t “Storm”.

Sentinels and Mystique are the center piece of this film while Hugh Jackman as Wolverine shines in more ways than one with his nude scene showing off a perfect physique.  The film also boasts a grand special effects scene of Magneto displaying his awesome power when he removes an entire stadium and uses it to trap the President and the White House. His use of the Sentinels was ingenious.

Wolverine is the only one physically able to time travel back in time to give wisdom and guidance to younger Professor X aka James McAvoy, Magneto played by Michael Fassbender, and a host of other characters.  The Plot is a simple one.  Travel back in time and stop Mystique from killing “Trask” where she falls into the hands of those who would use her DNA to create a breed of Sentinels that could adapt to any enemy and wipes out all mutants and humanity.

X MEN:Days of Future Past qutie simply is an instant classic, as well as a must have in the film library.  Saw it in 3D which was nice but not that impressive.  Planning on seeing this film in the theatre again it was that good.

Saturday Night Uptown 2 Train

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S: Saturday Night: Uptown 2 trainhttps://thejnsreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/04-saturday-night.mp3

Written by T.D Moody

Scene: Saturday night while on an uptown 2 train:

At approximately 9:35 pm. A large group of black youth (of both sexes) some wearing Muslim clothing such as hijabs and head covers entered the train carrying on like wildly disrespectful children.  Shock, disbelief, embarrassment and resentment are some of the emotions that ran through me as an entire train car was exposed to the plight facing both young and aging Black America.

The boys were speaking in derogatory terms and sexually suggestive terms to both one another as well as the girls in the group.  Girls and boys were yelling back and forth while bumping other passengers standing in the car.  The term “No home training” immediately came to mind.  I took it all in and thanked God for person my mother is so that I didn’t grow up the way the kids of today are.  Pushing and shoving ensued after they all entered the train car.  Luckily, I had been seated long before they boarded.

At 42nd St. I thought a prayer had been answered when in mass the group of youths began to exit the car.  Before I knew it I saw several girls shoving others standing in front of them as they exited the car impatient to allow those in front them to safely exit the car.  In a matter of seconds it appeared half of the group had fallen on top of one another on the platform before getting up and reboarding the train as it apparently wasn’t their stop.

Shock and disbelief gripped me yet again as well as dashed hopes of not having to continue to share a ride uptown with that wild bunch of teens with no leader.  I thought where are their parents?  By the time we reached the upper west side a good amount of people either switched train cars or exited at their stop.  I could see relief on faces as they exited the train leaving those remaining to endure the adolescent group.

Shaking my head I relayed my experience to an older black man while waiting at a bus stop.  He aptly described the situation as Too many kids having kids.  Parents on average 15 years older than their children.

The CheeseCake Episodes: White Chocolate CheeseCake 2

Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S: The CheeseCake Episodes: White Chocolate CheeseCake 2

Here’s the Ingredients List of what was used to make my latest version of the white chocolate cheese cake for a special someone:

Cream Cheese

6 packages of cream cheese

Heavy Cream & Milk

4 eggs, 2 cups heavy cream, I cup Whole Milk

Pictured above in the glass on the left is the heavy cream.  The glass on the right is the whole milk.

1 whole bag of white chocolate truffles melted downWhite Chocolate Melts

1 1/2 squeezed lemons,  probably 1/2 cup of sugar, and our secret spice  & liquid concoction.  Cream Cheese

Mixing in Liquids

Blending in Eggs

After all the eggs were incorporated I added the sugar and lemon juice and other spices and liquids before pouring the batter into the cake pan.

Graham Cracker Crust Prep

For the crust I used  two Keebler’s graham cracker crusts to fill the 12 x 3 bake pan. You could make your own graham cracker crust from scratch but for the sake of taste and time store bought graham cracker crust from Keebler’s just puts it over the top in my opinion.  After baking at 250 degrees for 3 hours the cake was left to cool in the freezer before the white chocolate eggs were added on top.

White Chocolate CheeCake No.2

The above cheesecake is a 12 x 3 inch cake.  This cheesecake is made as a traditional dense cheesecake.  If you like a light and fluffy cheesecake, addinig cottage cheese or lots of ricotta cheese and less cream cheese should do the job. I admit the taste didn’t come out quite as good as an earlier version but I realized that it was because I’d forgotten to add a secret ingredient.  Even though the taste was off a little it still was quite good.
