Welcome everyone to THEJNSREPORT’S: THE FILM COMMITTEE: 3rd Edition
In this 3rd edition of The Film Committee we add some new and some not so new films to the must watch list.
“Mystic Pizza”, “Premium Rush”, “Looper”, “Carnage”, and “Dream House”
Jesse Murphy: This week I go way back to a film that was in the beginning of Julia Roberts career as a must have for the film library. “Mystic Pizza” 1988. It’s so unreal that I can remember this movie as a kid and now see it again as an adult and still be able to say wow!! Awesome movie!!!
Steve D: My pick this time around as a must see and more likely than not a must add to your film library is Premium Rush 2012 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Premium Rush deals with the dangerous life of a bike messenger in NYC who ends up entwined with the real life horrors of people trafficking, and a crooked compulsive gambling cop. Great cinematography and story telling.
Akan Bosemann: Has anyone seen “Looper” 2012? For any Sci-Fi fans out there this is a definite must see. Time travel with an interesting twist is found in this film. Fair warning though for those who are sensitive to violent scenes, this film is packed with violence while telling its story. I found myself yelling at Bruce Willis’ younger self character for his repeated displays of disrespect and stupidity.
T.D Moody: An excellent cast and story which deals with humanity and our flaws, fears, and silliness is “Carnage” year of production 2011. Starring Jodie Foster, John C Reilly, Kate Winslet, and Christopher Waltz. This film resonated so powerfully with me because it deals with something we all struggle with as human beings and that is being free to be honest with ourselves and those in our lives about issues we often skirt or ignore.
Laura Jones: My selection this week is an excellently written and acted psycho drama entitled Dream House 2011. Starring the oh so incredibly sexy Daniel Craig aka Bond, and awesome actresses Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts. This movie is like a hoge poge mix of The Uninvited meets the Amtyville Horror, and The Number 23. A must see for fans of this genre.
Feel free to tell us some of your favorite films and whats on your must see/must have list.
Till next time this has been the Film Committee 3rd Edition.
