Welcome to THEJNSREPORT’S:The Katz’s Deli Experience 2013
Located at 205 East Houston St.
Having seen Man V Food more times than I care to admit, I’m reminded of the Katz’s Deli Episode where Adam Richman talks about this NY landmark restaurant known for it’s Brisket, Roastbeef, Pastrami and Corned Beef sandwiches, fries and host of other offerings. I finally made the time to stop in for a visit and sampling of one of their classics…Pastrami on Rye with a side order of fries.
Once inside this joint you receive a receipt from a hulking door man that you must take to each counter you receive food from. You give this to the cashier and pay on your way out. Be careful not to lose the ticket as there is an additional charge for lost tickets applied to one’s bill.
Once again in a time crunch I opted not to stay in and eat but get my order to go. It was enough for to be able to say I’d actually set foot inside this famous landmark.
Once I got to the counter I placed my order with one of the meat carvers and was given a sample cutting of the pastrami that would be going into my sandwich. It was good…very juicy & moist and the flavor and seasoning wasn’t overpowering but well represented all throughout the meat. Once I paid for my order I exited to sample my sandwich & fries at home.
I unwrapped my prize once inside and took a look…
Now some might call this sandwich simple perfection. I on the other hand sought to improve upon this masterpiece with a simple technique I like to call “toasting”. Afterall, what’s a toaster oven for right?
I wonder if Katz’s offers this option in house, if not they should. Yessum!!!

Hawhaaat?!!!
This was a meal folks let me tell ya but I’m not sure it was so good that I’d say it’s worth $17 a sandwich. Now if they offered you two of these at that same price I’d agree. Even still I enjoyed the experience and would recommend Katz’s to anyone who is a fan of visiting NYC landmarks and hasn’t sampled their Roastbeef, Brisket, Corned Beef, Pastrami, Turkey or any of it’s offerings for that matter. Overall I’d give the Pastrami onRye 4 1/2 dinner plates OOOO[
